Pick Pimsleur if
Your study time happens while your hands and eyes are busy — commuting, walking, cooking — and you want to be producing sound rather than recognising it.
Pick Babbel if
Your study time is a queue or a sofa, you want to see the language written, and a cancellable monthly fee suits you better than a purchase.
Pick neither if
They fail in the same place. Both are self-study, and above B1 the missing ingredient is someone correcting sentences you invented — which neither supplies at any price.
The same target, both ways
